Best real estate brokerage to work for in Montréal?

The largest brokerage office in Montréal is RE/MAX DU CARTIER INC. with 357 agents on its roster, out of 2,245 agents across 49 offices we track in the city. Size tells you which rooms are busy, not which one is right for you.

Nobody publishes this, so we counted it. Every office below is read from the brokerage's own public directory and re-read every week or two, so the numbers move when the rosters do. Updated 2026-09-27.

What the agent count actually tells you

It is the one fact about a brokerage you can check from the outside, and it is the one nobody will quote you on a recruiting call. It is not a measure of quality and we are not going to pretend otherwise. What it reliably tells you is which situation you would be joining.

A big office usually means a training program that exists, floor time and in-house referrals to compete for, an administrator who knows the paperwork, and a name a seller has heard of. It also means you are one of 357 people in Montréal with that same card, and the good leads have a queue.

A small office usually means the broker of record actually knows your name and answers the phone, a bigger share of what you bring in, and room to build something that is yours. It also means less to lean on in your first year, which is the year most licences quietly lapse.

In Montréal the top three offices hold 34.8% of the tracked agents, so no single brokerage dominates. That usually means more real choice on split and desk fees, because no office can assume you have nowhere else to go.

The questions the count cannot answer

Ask every office on this list the same four things and the differences show up fast: what the split is and when it caps, what comes out of your pocket monthly whether you sell or not, where leads come from and who gets them first, and who trains you in the first ninety days. Then ask for two agents who joined in the last year and call them.

The list above tells you who to ask. It is deliberately every office we can measure in Montréal, not a shortlist somebody paid to be on. We do not take money from brokerages and no office can buy a position here.

How we count, and what we deliberately do not count, is written up in the Index methodology. Counts come from published office rosters, so an office whose directory lags behind reads low. If a number looks wrong, tell us and we will check it against the next scan.
